Has anyone else noticed Andrew W.K.’s new look, and found it completely bizarre and a little uncomfortable to look at?
I mean what happened to the high tops, dirty white jeans, and long, flowing hair? It just caught me off guard. After googling* his new look– I am now finding myself knee-deep in what might be an AWK conspiracy thoery. Rumor has it that WK is a “pawn/actor” being controlled by Steev Mike who may or may not be his father. Also that he may or may not be wearing a hair piece. No words.

I don’t think those other pictures you have here are even the same person. That doesn’t look anything like Andrew WK.
AWK never wore high tops. He wore running shoes. Asics, I think.

Just found your page here after doing a search for Steev Mike on Google. I had always been sort of just “whatever” about Andrew WK, but then over the past couple years, I had been hearing weirder and weirder stuff from my friends, including one completely obsessed freak.
In the last 2 weeks, she hasn’t stopped talking about Andrew and Steev Mike and what stuff that sounds like a Twilight zone episode, so I admit it…. i got hooked.
Noow I see these pictures on your page, and I’m ever more baffled. And a little creeped out. If this is actually Andrew WK, how do you suppose he looks completely different from 8 years ago? Plastic surgery?
And not to open a huge can of worms here, but have you looked much into this whole rumor that he was hired as an actor, who then was fired by his manager, and then somehow got sued and was blackmailed into joining a conspiracy to make people think he was a fraud?
I have a headache now.
I try not to think too much about it.
Though I did just see him, and his adorable wife, at Santo’s Party House the other night for the free Adult Swim Cartoon Network/NYComic Con show– and it was I wanted and more.
So faith in humanity and AWK? Restored. For now at least.
I’ve been researching this Steev Mike story for days. It’s so much fun. And weird.
About the pictures tough, to me they do look like the same person.
dont worry. its the same guy, has been all along. the “dressed up” pictures are just to help continue the whole conspiracy. andrew knows everyone freaks out about it, which makes him more excited about making it seem real. so he does the opposite of what you would expect – cutting his hair, shaving, cleaning up, dressing in chinos and dress-shirts, etc. plus almost every official awk image post-2004 is almost certainly photoshopped in some way. usually to make it seem like its a different person! check out some recent live videos, or interviews, or fan pictures, etc. it’s clearly still him. hes actually recently grown his beard and his hairs as long as its been in 4 years, so he looks more like the andrew you probably remember. also consider that 8 or 9 years passed between the two sets of pictures posted here, taking andrew from a 20/21 year old to the 29 year old guy that he is now. a big difference. how he looked between 2002 and 2004 was never his natural look; he was and is a naturally skinny guy who REALLY bulked up, through constant eating, working out and (possibly) steroids. despite that, hes actually pretty big again now, bigger than he was in 2000 and 2001 anyway (when the bottom images were taken). i dont want to say it was a gimmick because it wasnt, it was all real, but he deliberately manipulated and changed his image; making himself so big, the deep, mile-a-minute voice (so much grunting and screaming obviously affected that but it was also never his natural voice, how he talks and sings now is closer to that, but you never really know with andrew), the dirty smelly crazy guy look. all of that was stuff that took a lot of effort, but could be eradicated so quickly. you could call it performance art but i think that probably demeans it a little.
anyway! the point of all of this is not to worry. the conspiracy stuff is all perpetrated by andrew himself, an inside joke if you like. hes the same guy he always has been and if you look around a little its easy to see. actually, i think he looks pretty much identical in the new images and the one where he’s lying on the bed. compare the faces. theres really not much difference.
